The Gender-Centru is a research and training NGO, with a team of professionally trained members in different research areas focusing on gender and development issues. It has been operating since 1998 though registered as an NGO in February 2000 (Nr. 1278 from 10.02.2000/1015620006016 from 23 September 2015, Ministry of Justice). The Gender-Centru’s core group consists of 14 specialists (teachers, psychologists, legal specialists, journalists etc.). The Gender-Centru’ staff – 10 persons. Mission statement: Promotion of gender equality as one of the basic principles to consolidate democracy in Moldovan society.
Gender-Centru has been very active in national and regional work in the area of gender equality. Its accomplishments include more than 30 projects, including research, implemented. GC is a Member of the Women’s Major Group, Co-founder of Platform for Gender Equality in Moldova. Main activities covered gender mainstreaming, non- discrimination and anti-violence, awareness raising, and advocating for gender equality in different sectors etc. Gender-Centru has multi-sectorial expertise in different sectors (education, labour, health care, social protection, migration, violence and trafficking, and political/economic participation) including sector policies. Valuable experience working with refugees and IDP from Ukraine in Moldova (2022-2024).
